PAN News

PAN delivered an Advocacy Awareness and Empowerment programme to Southland Enterprises Inc. during August 2005. This programme is clearly tailored to the needs of people with disability and/or low literacy levels. The programme itself is highly innovative, interactive and delivers a high level of information in an entertaining and wholly accessible manner. The quality of delivery matches the content.

Southland Enterprises Inc. is happy to endorse the People's Advocacy Network as a training provider to the health, social care and social inclusion industry and looks forward to their future development in advocacy and self-empowerment training.

Russell Small, Human Resources Director, Southland Enterprises Inc.

A leading UK expert in learning difficulties, Dr John Tufail, is now available to undertake consultancy and advisory work in the areas of:

Enhanced Communication

I have often been told by ‘experts’ that ‘Linda has only limited ability to communicate,’ and that, ‘decisions will always have to be made for her.’ I now know absolutely that this is untrue. I observed Dr Tufail spend less than one hour with Linda. In that short period he was able to demonstrate to me that Linda has a wide range of communication skills. In fact within ten minutes Dr Tufail was communicating with Linda at a level I have not seen for many years and the affect on Linda was uplifting.

Augmented Communication

Dr Tufail has developed a range of communication and learning strategies and media that enables service providers and users to work together in identifying and developing an individual’s range of potentials. . .

Self-advocacy

Recent NZ research carried out by Dr Tufail and his team has led to the development of the Ara Tukutuku model of hauora - - a holistic approach to self empowerment . . .
