Miami-Dade Celebrates Disability Employment Month with a Special Recognition for Our Organization

Disability Employment Month Plaque

October is a meaningful month in Miami-Dade, as the County once again recognized Disability Employment Month and highlighted the importance of inclusive workplaces. This year’s celebration offered an especially memorable moment for our team.

On October 21, 2025, Commissioner Raquel Regalado hosted a community gathering to honor organizations and partners working to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The event brought together families, advocates, county staff, and local leaders who are deeply committed to ensuring that Miami-Dade continues moving toward a more accessible and equitable future.

During the program, Commissioner Regalado presented a plaque to our President and CEO, Ire Díaz, in recognition of the Advocacy Network on Disabilities’ long-standing commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities in finding meaningful employment. The moment was simple but powerful, reflecting the strong partnership between our organization and county leadership. With photographs capturing the exchange, it stands as a reminder of how community collaboration can drive real progress.

Miami-Dade’s continued recognition of Disability Employment Month, combined with efforts like EmployABILITY 305, shows that inclusion is not just an idea—it is a growing movement in our county. Commissioner Regalado’s leadership, along with the County’s ongoing work, underscores the value of creating pathways to employment that honor the strengths, talents, and ambitions of people with disabilities.

For our team, the recognition reinforces what we already know to be true: when organizations, families, policymakers, and community partners work together, we create opportunities that change lives. We are proud of the work we do, grateful for the acknowledgment, and energized to continue building a Miami-Dade where everyone has the chance to contribute and thrive.

This year’s celebration was not just an event—it was a reflection of the progress our community is making and the commitment we share. As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to advancing access, inclusion, and opportunity for all.
