A Celebration of Partnership and Community

Last week, friends and partners gathered at the Marian Center to celebrate the retirement of Advocacy Network on Disabilities CEO Ire Diaz and to recognize the strong, longstanding partnership between the two organizations.

Founded in 1963, the Marian Center has provided education, residential, and adult services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than six decades. Its commitment to dignity, inclusion, and opportunity has made it a cornerstone of the disability community in South Florida.

The event was especially meaningful because the Marian Center was also the site of the very first Breakfast for Champions. In many ways, the celebration felt like a homecoming, bringing together organizations and individuals who have worked side by side over the years to improve the lives of people with disabilities and their families.

While the gathering honored Ire’s leadership and service, it was equally a celebration of the resilience, collaboration, and shared purpose that have united the Marian Center and Advocacy Network on Disabilities through the years. Together, they have faced challenges, created opportunities, and continued to advocate for a more inclusive community.

As one chapter closes and another begins, today’s celebration reminded everyone that the work continues, strengthened by the partnerships, friendships, and commitment that have made such a lasting impact on our community.
